Microsoft REALLY Fucks Up: Looks Like SideKick May Be Gone For Good

So there are some things out there that are simply unacceptable.  This is one of them.

In today's day and age, data lossage is catastrophic.  All corporations duplicate or triplicate their backups to avoid possible data lossage because it is both important, and it's loss could be the end of the corporation's existence.

Microsoft clearly believed they could beat Murphy's law.  Clearly they couldn't.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, Microsoft recently lost a large amount of data: the personal information stored on people's Sidekicks: aka their contacts, photos, calendars, etc.

Stuff like this cannot happen.  This is as though one day Google appologized that they lost 20% of users' emails and contacts.  THIS CANNOT HAPPEN.  Companies triplicate their backups of all data for this very reason, often keeping a copy or two off site (or out of state/country even) to avoid major catastrophe's.

Word on the street is that something went wrong during an upgrade, and now all the data is gone.

Sidekick is already falling apart as users are now switching to other devices/companies.  I doubt sidekick will ever succeed again after this failure.

If you have a sidekick and just lost your data from this, my sincerest apologies.

Update: Microsoft didn't lose the data.  For more information, click here.
